Draft Font For Dot Matrix Printer

We have Quickbooks and have just been FORCED to update to Window 10 from XP by the QB newest version. We have over 3000 tractor feed checks to use up. 3 years worth. So we want to continue to use these printers. We are having a lot of trouble finding anythat install on Win10 easily. All the queries about 'dot matrix' and 'Impact' here seem to show it's an Olympic class excersize in gymnastics.

Considering how important these printers are to businesses and banks around the world, we are very surprised by thenon-support.We have tried to find working drivers for the Panasonic KX-P1124/2123/1091, Epson LQ-1010 and Citizen GSX-190 that were in storage. So far, only junk, phishing and spyware (and thank you to Spybot and AVG for protection!!).

We are also unhappy with the ADDPRINTER list for manual install. Some places say we need to use Epson FX or LQ drivers for non-Epson printers. But the Win10 Epson list is cryptic: 'ESP/P Mono 1 V4 Class Driver'? It's not on the Epson site. We tried the entire listand the results are all gibberish in the top 1-2 lines, full page advance and 1-2 lines, advance, 1-2 lines. We are NOT using USB. We are using LPT 1 and the printer worked perfectly as on ECP under WinXP.

A suggestion was to set BIOS for LPT 1 to Regular or Unidirectional. Did that, no help. Another was to set the Spooler to RAW (not EMF). Can't findany Win10 spooler options, unlike in XP (which was set to the default). So, what dot matrix impact printers will work properly with Win10 and Quickbooks? With minimal contortions? Are there any NEW or OLD ones? Is there a compatibility list?

PLEASE discuss your solutions here. Ok I've experimented some.

In the BIOS, LPT1 was set to 'regular' for the tests below. The Epson LQ-1010 (24 pin) wouldn't work with any 'ESC/P Standard (x) V4 Class' drivers' but the 'ESC/P V4 Class' driver sort of worked. It printed nicely, shifted 3 inches to the right. Also '@EJL 1284.4 (line 1), @EJL (line 2) printed in the far upperleft corner on every page I tried to print, including the Windows Test Page. This also moved the top margin of the text I did want down an inch. Lastly, on all pages tested, a '1' was printed in the middle of the page in what would've been in the bottom marginif not for the 1' top margin shift, which is actually the top of the 2nd sheet of paper.

I didn't ask for this page number to be printed. The Panasonic KX-P2123 (24 pin) didn't work on any Epson driver. It didn't work with the Generic driver. The KX-P1124 (24 pin) worked with the 'Epson ESC/P 9pin V4 Class' driver, but print was light, as if in 9 pin draft mode. It also printed the '@EJL 1284.4 (line 1), @EJL (line 2) and the page number, as described above. However, the 'Generic/Text Only' driverdid print correctly, but as if draft mode with NO formatting at all (the letters were font Arial 20). But the '@EJL 1284.4 (line 1), @EJL (line 2) and page number were gone.Haven't tried the Citizen yet.Life is Change, but it is not Exact Change.

Reporting success!! We bought a (much) newer impact dot matrix printer. Installed the Okidata ML420 after calling the company by phone and being assured that the printer was supported on Win10.The install was not without incident. The ML420 did fine for test pages and txt, rtf, doc printing. However, it didn't print tractor feed checks at all. Intuit/Quickbooks support didn't get us anywhere (this was the program that needed the checks to print)after an hour on the phone.Okidata had the fix.

They almost immediately figured the Win 10 driver for the printer was faulty. They directed us to go to the printer install window and download the most recent printer drivers. This done, they directed us to find the Epson FX Series 1 (80) driver and install that. After that made sure we were using the USB port connection, not the LPT1 port. It worked perfectly for everything!!!Late note: see below for exact details on this procedure which I confirmed Now I wonder if such would work with our old Panasonic printers, even using LPT ports.

Have alot of ink cartridges left. Life is Change, but it is not Exact Change. Hello,Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better:. What is the exact issue that you are facing with Panasonic printer?. Do you get any error message/ error code?I would suggest you to install the drivers using updates and check if that helps.Refer to article given below to Update the drivers in Windows 10.Hope this helps. If the issue persists please provide required information and we’ll be glad to assist you. I think I was fairly precise as to what were the problems with installing the dot matrix printers we had in the posts above.

But if I must spell it out.USELESS - FAULTY DRIVERS INSTALLED IN WIN 10 FOR DOT MATRIX/IMPACT PRINTERS OF ALL TYPES, OLD AND NEW.INEFFECTIVE AND FAULTY P-N-P RECOGNITION OF DOT MATRIX/IMPACT PRINTERS. LPT OR USB.CONFUSING OR USELESS LABELING OF WIN 10 ON DRIVERS THAT DO EXIST. ('ESP/P Mono 1 V4 Class Driver'? Is that???)NO SUGGESTION IN WIN 10 TO FIND UPDATED DRIVERS AND HOW TO DO IT. WIN 10 IS NOT A 'SMART' OS.THE WINDOWS HELP/TROUBLESHOOTER WAS NOT VERY HELPFUL.

AS IT HAS BEEN FOR GENERATIONS.CONFUSING OR MISSING INFO IN WIN 10 (AND AT MS SITES) ON WHAT WOULD SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.HELP ONLINE BY ALL REPUTABLE SOURCES IS MISSING, CONFUSING OR USELESS.(Note: WinXP was/is almost happy to live with any printer made up to 2015. It's driver list was extensive and understandable and automatically updated. If not for Quick Books required OS update, we would still be happy with XP and saved $680 and severaldays work.)No, we had no error codes or notices when using older printers mentioned above. All attempts either didn't print anything or printed gibberish.

All MS help sites had NOTHING to get us going!! I searched 12 hours. Nearly 150 links, by the Firefox historycount.

I deduced by myself that finding a Win 10 certified impact printer would be the solution, if they existed. The Okidata brand was used by banks so it was our best choice.

Okidata confirmed this deduction by phone call. We bought their printer and whenthe install went south, a perfect solution was given quickly by Okidata, as noted above. ALL difficulties were directly attributable to Win 10 itself.' I would suggest you to install the drivers using updates and check if that helps.' Considering we had solved our problem 100% before your reply, why should I try to do it all over again? I wrote my solution for others to profit.

We are happy with Okidata for understanding our 1st call query about what was wrong. They employ SMART peoplethere who know what business people's problems are and how to solve them. It's now well over a month and the solution is still good. Since I spent those days on this issue, we sent the old printers to our obsolete parts pile. If you want to solve the driver problem, more power to ya. Send a dozen pre-paid shipping boxes to usand we'll send you all our old printers to have fun with.Life is Change, but it is not Exact Change. I just went over the steps again to be sure.

More Keri shows as she sings as the choir scene comes up variously. Other various people are also shown. Then scene skips to the body paint room were different people are shown with their face painted, a different country for each as they sing along. Akon oh africa lyrics. Is also shown dancing with Keri in the room with the moving paint between scenes.

It's a bit of a trail (WHY, MS?). Here's how we got in the missing drivers and updated any older ones:Go to Control Panel or Printers. If Control Panel, select 'Printers and Devices'. A window for them appears with all these current devices shown.Select 'Add a printer' in upper left region of window. A new 'Add printer' window appears. In the 'Add a printer' window look under the search window for 'My printer is not listed' and select it. Do this ignoring the fact Windows is now searching for devices.A window appears saying 'Find a printer by other options'.

Select 'Add a local printer or a network printer with manual settings' and click 'Next' in lower right.A window to select the printer port appears. We needed the USB port and it's all the way down the list beside 'Use an existing port'. You choose your appropriate port.A manual search 'Install the printer driver' window appears. Ignore device list for now and select 'Windows Update' button under the device list. This should update your PC to hold all the drivers Windows 10 has NOT auto included. You'll wait 5-10 minutesfor it depending on speed of PC and connection.

Go make coffee. All selections in this window will be blank or grey till it's done. Don't close the window till the updated selections return!NOTE TO MICROSOFT: WHY WASN'T IT OFFERED SOONER AND MORE EASILY, HMMMM?? A 'manual driver search' button could've been put on the FIRST 'Add printer' window and all would be done SO much more quickly.

Make the port selection in the top half of the windowand it's perfect on ONE PAGE.When the update completes you can now select the manufacturer and find the driver you need. (We needed the 'Epson FX Series 1 (80)' driver according to Okidata.) Click on the right one and click 'Next' in lower right. This should get you to the promisedland. When installed the new icon will show in the Printers list.We then set it as the default and that sealed the deal for our QB to see it too (but may have to restart QB to see it though).

Test print was good except for setting QB print alignment in that program. If bad results try another driver. HOWEVER, You have to wait for the looonnnggg driver update again though. I just tried it twice and all the new drivers have disappeared each time. I DECLARE A KLUDGE!!! (and I don't use this fine old term lightly here)WHO DESIGNED THE MANUAL DRIVER SYSTEM??!! Once in, they should stay in!Life is Change, but it is not Exact Change.
